Licensing
Every Distill course is built from an openly licensed textbook. This page lists what each one came from, the license that permits it, and when we took it.
How we choose sources
We only build on licenses that permit both commercial use and adaptations. That rules out anything marked NonCommercial, because we charge for access, and anything marked NoDerivatives, because a Distill course is an adaptation rather than a copy.
Where a source is ShareAlike, the course we generate from it carries the same license and you are free to reuse it on those terms. Each course says so on its own page.
Every course here is an adaptation, not the original work. The text is reorganized into units and the questions are generated. None of it should be read as the original author’s words.
